Wolf Game is a blockchain strategy game comprised of ERC- 721 tokens such as wolves, sheep, land, and farmers, and the ERC-20 token WOOL.
The game was launched in November 2021, with a minting price of .069420 Eth, and introduced on-chain game mechanics that forced you to make tough decisions as you play. What makes Wolf Game novel and innovative is the on-chain decision making mechanics and efficient contract execution. The game and economy is driven by the decisions of the players and the smart contract interactions.
The largest population in the ecosystem are the 12,008 sheep which produce WOOL and can breed. Sheep are important for WOOL production and governance of the ecosystem. Currently there are generation 0 and 1 levels. Gen 2 coming soon.
The 1,729 wolves are the top predators in the game that can capture sheep, WOOL, and resources from farmers. Only staked wolves are able to steal a sheep or earn the WOOL tax. Wolves have alpha levels which allow them to steal more WOOL and newly minted sheep.
WOOL is the main currency used in game’s ecosystem. It is the most precious resource in the game and will be involved with breeding and cultivating resources. Sheep produce WOOL and Wolves steal WOOL. WOOL was used to mint a new gen1 Sheep and a 10% chance of a new Wolf, but a 10% chance of the new Sheep or Wolf being stolen by a staked Wolf.
Each Wolf’s chance of success is proportional to their Alpha scores. Actions in this game usually come with risk. The game forces you to make decisions when staking.
You can play is safe, or risk your assets to get ahead. Play wisely. There are 20,000 pieces of genesis land that contain resources that are used strategically in the game. Traits include community, peak level, peak location, structures, property, grass, stone, water, and wood. Certain resources will be used to feed and breed the flock.
The game is run by The Shepherd who helps guide the economy and address imbalances. While this is not a fully trustless system the community has Sheps full support in the decisions made. What we love most about Wolf Game is the conscious effort to put as much of the game fully on-chain. All artwork assets are stored fully on-chain with no external dependencies.
The first iteration of the game had gameplay mechanics fully on-chain as well. V2 of the game has since pivoted away from fully on-chain, but for good reason. The team still values fully on-chain but it comes at the detriment of user experience and speed of innovation. The approach taken now is On-Chain Ownership, and Off-Chain Gameplay.
Wolf Game V2 also introduces many more complex mechanics including breeding, land tax rates, land communities, weather conditions, Sheep energy, and much more.
That was a mouthful but the complexity is what makes the @wolfdotgame fun and interesting to play! The full game is planned to launch very soon. You can find the full game woolpaper at https://wolf.game/woolpaper.
We commend the Wolf Game team for their innovation in web3, including the fully on-chain movement, and for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in blockchain gaming.
